Q. How many laps do we drive and what is a session?
A.
At Taupo race track there are three seperate configurations, these are called track three(used most of the time), track two and track one. Each track is a different length (see here for track maps).
A session is either:
10 laps Track 3
or 6 Laps Track 2
or 4 Laps Track 1 (Test Days)
Note: Unless otherwise stated track 3 is used and is best for leaning on
At Hampton Downs race track there is one track and each session is 6 laps (V8s only)
At Powerbuilt Raceway, Ruapuna Park Race Track we use Track A and a session is 10 Laps
Q.What are the cars like to drive?
A. Driving a single seater or V8 is an unforgettable experience, totally different from any road car in every way. The cars are very easy to drive however they will test your skill to get the ultimate lap time.
Q. What type of driving can I do?
A. You can drive either a V8 race car or a single seat Formula Challenge Race Car(only at Taupo). In both cases you will drive the cars on the race track after you have had tuition from our trained instructors. For more information on the nature of the courses and the prices please click here.
Q. Would my partner enjoy this experience as a gift voucher?
A. Absolutely, whether they are into V8's, F1 or any type of motorsport this will be a day they will not forget!
Q.Do I need safety gear or a racing licence?
A.No, Formula Challenge provides it all. Our only requirement is a pair of socks and that you can drive a manual car.
Q.Are there other cars on the track?
A.Yes there can sometimes be other vehicles but only the same type we will always limit the numbers for safety. On test days on Wednesdays there will be other cars testing with you.
Q.When and where are the courses held?
A.The courses are run at Taupo Motorsport Park in Taupo(all courses) Hampton Downs out side of Auckland (V8s only)and now at Ruapuna in Christchuch (V8s only).

Q.Can my family and friends come to watch?
A.Absolutely! We have a viewing deck and all facilities are provided for your use.
Q.Can I upgrade my course?
A.Yes, at any stage during the day you can upgrade to another course for $200. (Please note that some courses will require a higher indemnity waiver fee.)
Q.What happens if I damage a car?
A.You are liable for any damage done to the car while you are driving it, but we do offer an indemnity waiver which for a small fee will limit your exposure to an agreed figure. For example for the Drive a V8 course a fee of $50 will limit your liability to an excess of $300 for any one incident. (For further information please refer to our Booking Terms).

A.Anything from 1 person up to 100 in a day
Q.How do I find you?
A.
Taupo;
Taupo Motorsport Park, Broadlands Road, Taupo. Turn left at the main roundabout by Woolworths and proceed up Spa Road for 2.5 kms and keep left at y- intersection as Spa Road changes into Centennial Drive .Drive another 3 km until Broadlands Road T-intersection. Turn left and drive down Broadlands Road - you are now driving next to the main straight of the racetrack. Once at the end of racetrack, turn left again and GATE 1 is 50 metres on your left. Hampton Downs;
Hampton Downs is just 60 km south of Auckland and 65 km north of Hamilton, right next to the motorway on State Highway 1. Auckland Airport is even closer and the main trunk railway is just 2 km away. Just turn off at Hampton Downs Offramp, you cant miss it! Centres such as Hamilton and Tauranga on the Bay of Plenty are also within easy reach.
Powerbuilt Raceway;
Powerbuilt Tools International Raceway at Ruapuna Park, Hasketts Road, Templeton. The raceway is AA signposted off the Main South Road (5 minutes out of Hornby, turn right) or off the West Coast Road (just past Yaldhurst Pub, turn left into Hasketts Road), drive into the main gate (large Powerbuilt sign above gateway)
